Paul E. Nicol 1964-2026

Paul Nichol

HUBBARD - Paul Edward Nicol, 62, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren, surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 22, 1964, in Coventry, England, to the late Brian and Mary Jones Nicol.

After coming to the United States, Paul made the Youngstown area his home in 1998, where he built a life with his family and pursued his passion for engineering.

He worked as a vehicle systems engineer at MSSL in Howland. His career began in an apprentice program at Lotus, where he was exposed to the full spectrum of vehicle design.

Although Paul was initially most interested in engines and powertrains, the program assigned him to electrical design - an area he often joked was the one he had the least interest in at the time. That assignment, however, became the foundation of a career defined by deep expertise in electrical systems and harness architecture.

Paul had many interests and passions that reflected his personality and the things he loved most. He was an avid Formula One racing fan and a devoted Coventry City Football Club supporter.

He cherished long bike rides with his wife and especially looked forward to the family's annual vacations to Pawleys Island, South Carolina, a tradition that brought him joy year after year. He had a particular appreciation for Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Lotus automobiles, and he never turned down a hot cup of English tea.

Above all, Paul's greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. Whether he was playing with them, making them laugh, or creating videos just for them under his adored GeePopz Productions label, Paul found endless happiness in being their GeePopz. The memories he created, the laughter he shared and the love he gave his grandchildren will remain a treasured part of his legacy for years to come.

Paul leaves behind his loving wife, Delores M. Nicol, whom he married Nov. 12, 1992; his children, Paul M. (Stacy) Nicol, Gavin T. Nicol (Whitney Winch) and Emily M. (James) Nicol-Metzler; his beloved grandchildren, Oliver Nicol, Mila Nicol, Corbin Metzler and Corbin's brother, arriving in March; his brothers, Andrew and Adam Nicol; his aunt, Beryl Quinn, who lovingly raised him following his mother's passing; his cousin, Marc (Rachel) Quinn and their children, Archie and Frankie Quinn.

Family and friends may visit from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, at Fox Funeral Home in Boardman.

Funeral services will begin at 12 p.m., led by Pastor Michael Byus.

Paul will be laid to rest in Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown.

In lieu of flowers, send all donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

Paul will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. His love for his family, his passions and the special memories he created will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
