Mary Ann Clevenger

CAMERON, N.C. -- Mary Ann Clevenger, beloved wife, mother, Mimi, sister, aunt, and selfless friend, passed away after an eight-year battle with dementia on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, at age 64, to join her beloved son and merciful Savior in Heaven.

Born to the late Mary Loader and Donald Donafrio of New Castle, Pa., Mary Ann was a 1980 graduate of Shenango High School and recipient of the Miss Junior Achievement Award. She was the loving sister of the late Rose Marie Donafrio, Carla Bush (widow of the late Barry Bush), Christine (Brandon) Johnson and Donald (Melissa) Donafrio.

On May 15, 1982, Mary Ann married Lloyd Clevenger, beginning 44 years of marriage, military service, family and unwavering devotion. As both a soldier’s wife and mother of a soldier -- two of the hardest jobs in the Army -- she exemplified quiet strength, sacrifice and unconditional love.

Mary Ann was the devoted mother of Amanda Marie Clevenger and the late Lloyd Brandon "Duke" Clevenger, who passed away in 2019. She inspired kindness, perseverance and a love of reading and writing in her children, faithfully supporting their every endeavor.

In 2006, she welcomed her most treasured title, "Mimi," with the birth of her granddaughter, Ava Marie Shaw, whom she adored beyond measure.

Gentle, unassuming and endlessly selfless, Mary Ann possessed a quiet strength that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Though dementia cruelly stole her memories, it could never erase the love and kindness she gave so freely.

Her family finds comfort imagining her joyful reunion with Lloyd Brandon, free from pain and confusion, welcomed into Heaven by her precious boy and his unmistakable Cheshire grin.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Lloyd Clevenger; daughter, Amanda Clevenger; granddaughter, Ava Shaw; her surviving siblings and their spouses; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Lloyd Brandon; sister, Rose Marie; parents, Mary and Donald Donafrio; brother-in-law, Barry Bush; and parents-in-law, Mildred and Lloyd Clevenger.

A Celebration of Life will take place at noon Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, at Adcock Funeral Home Chapel, Spring Lake, North Carolina. The family will receive friends following the service from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

There also will be a floating reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, 2026, at the Johnson Club, 2292 Churchill Road, Hillsville, PA 16132.

Mary Ann spent her life quietly loving others. May we honor her by loving one another a little more loudly in her absence.
