James Mickholtzick

YOUNGSTOWN - James Carl "Jim" Mickholtzick, 80, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, with his family at his bedside.

Jim was born April 28, 1946, in Youngstown, the son of Joseph and Helen Pekarcik Mickholtzick.

He graduated from Wilson High School in 1964 and went on to take postgraduate courses at Youngstown State University.

He worked for Ward Baking Company before beginning a 40-year career with R.M.I. Titanium (Howmet), where he retired as a finishing operator.

Jim loved the outdoors and wildlife. In his early years, he took many hunting and fishing trips to Canada with his brother, father, wife and friends. Later, he spent weekends with his family fishing for perch and walleye on Lake Erie, where he found peace on the water. He had an unwavering passion for classic cars and was a true Mopar enthusiast. He enjoyed music of every genre, especially traditional country and western and rock; he had a particular love for Elvis Presley. Jim was a true music aficionado with an impressive command of musical trivia spanning extensive genres. Generous with his time and many talents, Jim was always ready to help anyone in need. He loved working with wood, building cabinets and furniture, and fixing cars with his buddy, Mike. He had a rare gift for making everyone who visited his home feel welcome and included.

He will be sadly missed by his two canine companions, Max and Lucy.

Jim married the love of his life and best friend, Marilyn Bross Mickholtzick, on Aug. 28, 1971. They recently celebrated 55 years of marriage and together built a beautiful family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marilyn; his son, Scott (Lori) Mickholtzick of Canfield; his daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Sandra and Jason Glagola of Cleveland; his grandchildren: Lauren Smaldino, Aubrey Mickholtzick, Elizabeth Glagola and Robert Glagola; his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Laurie Bross; his sister-in-law, Sandi Bross; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son, Robert Mickholtzick; his brother, Joseph Mickholtzick; and brother-in-law, Thomas Bross.
