STRUTHERS - Elizabeth Ann Hynes, 91, of Struthers, passed away on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, at her home.
Elizabeth was born June 29, 1935, a daughter of the late Michael and Veronica Backus Olsafsky.
A 1953 graduate of Ursuline High School, Elizabeth was formerly employed as a bookkeeper for Anchor Cigar Co. and later Phar-Mor.
She was a longtime member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and later, Holy Family Parish.
Elizabeth was a member of the Holborn Herb Growers Guild, St. Charles Garden Club, East Garden Club and Victory Assembly Seniors.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Gregory (Cindy) Hynes of Lowellville; her daughter, Laura (Greg) Waltz of Rootstown; seven grandchildren, Jamie (Alex) Durbin of Glenshaw, Pa., Kelly (Gage Miller) Hynes of Columbus, Emmett (Stephanie) Hynes of Struthers, Joseph (Kristin) Guidos of Wakeman, Michelle (Judd Rosenberg) Durkin of Struthers, Jordan (Greg) Wheeler of Galway, Ireland, and Jillian Waltz of Ashburn, Virginia; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Sr. Seraphim, OSBM, (Margaret Olsafsky) of Uniontown, Pa.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Joseph Hynes, who passed away on Feb. 21, 1972. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Jennifer.
In keeping with Elizabeth's wishes, services will take place privately.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
Arrangements are by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
