Dorothy Goldberg

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Dorothy Lee Duffy Goldberg, 76, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born July 30, 1950, in Columbus, Dorothy was the youngest of five children of James and June Duffy. She grew up alongside her sisters, Ann and Mary Jo, and brothers, Jake and Slug.

A graduate of Upper Arlington High School, she attended the Columbus College of Art and Design, where she developed her lifelong love of art and design.

While attending school, Dorothy met Richard "Rick" Goldberg, then a law student at The Ohio State University. Their love story spanned 54 years of marriage, six children, 12 grandchildren, and a lifetime of memories together. They raised their family in Liberty Township before retiring to Florida.

Dorothy was a force of nature: strong-willed, creative and completely devoted to those she loved most. A talented artist with an eye for design, she designed the family home and delighted in decorating, entertaining, and bringing family celebrations to life. An exceptional cook and baker, her chocolate chip pancakes were legendary.

One of Dorothy's greatest passions was golf. She loved the competition and particularly enjoyed outdriving the men who underestimated her. Her confidence, determination and competitive spirit were as evident on the course as they were throughout her life.

Above all, Dorothy loved her family. Her children were her proudest accomplishment, and she delighted in watching them build lives and families of their own. She believed deeply in them, expected them to give their best, and never hesitated to express her pride. Her strength was matched only by the depth of her love for those closest to her.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Rick; daughters, Kelly Goldberg, Jamie (Jared) Dokovna, Shannon (Tim) Cruz and Molly Goldberg (Anthea Nzeekwu); sons, Ryan Goldberg (Dana Schiavone) and Sean Goldberg (Julie Pakula); and 12 cherished grandchildren: Zach, Elli, Noa, Asher, Jude, Emm, Reis, Lane, Aidan, Jett, Blake and Paxton.

Dorothy will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, her unwavering devotion to those she loved and the lasting imprint she leaves on the family who meant everything to her.

A celebration of her life will be the weekend of July 30, 2027, in Youngstown, Ohio, which would have marked her 77th birthday.
