COLUMBUS - Catherine A. Skebo, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, at Cranberry Park at Riverview in Columbus, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Nov. 12, 1935, in Struthers, a daughter of the late John and Amelia Sladin Sarich.
She graduated from Struthers High School in 1953.
She was proud to have worked as an office administrator for the director of the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities for 15 years.
She met her husband while dancing, unknowingly beginning a lifetime of love, family and cherished memories. A genuinely kind and selfless woman, she found her greatest happiness in caring for those she loved, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she absolutely doted on.
Catherine loved to cook, bake and entertain, and her home was the gathering place for every holiday. Her homemade nut and poppy seed kolachi were family favorites, and the sounds of Tamburitza music often filled the kitchen while she cooked. Sunday afternoons after church were another treasured tradition, bringing everyone together around the table for a good meal and time spent with family.
Proud of her Croatian heritage, she was a member of Lodge 66 of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America. She will be remembered for the love she poured into her family, the traditions she shared, and the many ways she made everyone around her feel special.
Catherine is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Joseph; her children, Michael Skebo, Diane Glodek, Joseph (Jody) Skebo, Richard Skebo, Susan (Troy) Duke and Monica Skebo; her grandchildren, Grace Glodek, Catherine Skebo, Jacob Duke, Mila Skebo, Natasha (Marc) Toeteberg, Adam (Gillian) Skebo, Patrick Skebo, Alec Skebo, Emma Skebo, Mary (Nathaniel) Kowalski and Ryan Skebo; her great-grandchildren, Finn, Lara and Hazel; her sister, Amelia Zaluski; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Booth, and Peter, Joseph, John and Matthew Sarich; and her sister, Anne Kopp.
Friends and family will be received from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman, where prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, and she will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
