STRUTHERS - Beverly J. Muntean, 77, of Struthers, passed away on Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, at Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.
Beverly was born on May 12, 1949, in Youngstown, a daughter of Paul and Elizabeth Richards Valentino. Her father, Paul, passed away in 1949. Beverly was lovingly raised by her mother, Elizabeth, and her stepfather, Michael Sedor.
A graduate of Lowellville High School, Beverly continued her education at Youngstown State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in education.
Words cannot fully describe the impact Bev made during her 35 years of teaching elementary and middle school students in Struthers. Even decades later, her family continued to hear from former students and members of the community who shared their gratitude for the difference she made in their lives.
Above all, Beverly's greatest joy was her family. Affectionately known as "Mamas" and "Nonna," she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and teacher who fiercely loved and protected those closest to her.
Beverly had a gift for making everyone feel safe and cared for. Her door was always open, her house was always spotless, and no one ever left hungry. She loved cooking for her family, friends, and neighbors, especially her famous Italian wedding soup, sauce and holiday cookies. Whether she was feeding the neighborhood, spending time with her grandchildren, or enjoying a trip to the casino to play the slot machines, Beverly found happiness in life's simple pleasures. Never one to sit still, she devoted her days to caring for her home and, most importantly, the people she loved.
Beverly will be remembered for her generous heart, strong personality, unwavering love for her family, and the countless lives she touched both inside and outside the classroom.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Nicholas Muntean, whom she married on Feb. 16, 1980; her two sons, Brad (Amy) Cunningham of Howland and Michael (Lindsey) Muntean of Poland; her cherished grandchildren, Zac, Sydney, Monroe and Sarah; her siblings, Patti Nodae, Donny Thomas, Michelle Rovnak and Kathy Wharry; as well as dozens of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends, many of whom she loved and cared for as her own.
In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Valentino.
Honoring Beverly's wishes, there will be no services.
