Salvatore DiCapua 1935-2026

Salvatore DiCapua

VIENNA -- Salvatore DiCapua passed away the morning of Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at his home. He was 91.

Sal was born on April 30, 1935, in Bagnoli Irpino, in the province of Avellino, Campania, Italy, one of six children born to Anthony and Maria Patrone DiCapua.

After World War II ended, Sal set off with his knowledge of cabinetry to work in Switzerland, Germany and Canada. During his time in Canada, he met his future bride Jean Mary Diorio. They were married on April 19, 1969, before moving to the United States.

Sal was a masterful craftsman and secured a job with McRoyal Industries. He belonged to the Ohio Carpenters Union 171. He enjoyed flea markets, gardening and Western movies. One of his hobbies included collecting coins and stamps. He was an avid winemaker and had a love for animals.

Sal leaves his wife, Jean; daughter, Maria (Michael) Kennedy; grandchildren, Amanda and Michael Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Anthony; two brothers; and three sisters.

Family and friends will call from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, at Schiavone Funeral Home, with a prayer service to follow.

Sal will be laid to rest in Vienna Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, 812 Youngstown Kingsville Road SE, Vienna, OH 44473, in Sal's memory.
