POLAND -- Phillip J. Placko Sr., 80, passed away on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House in Poland.
Phillip was born on May 30, 1946, in Ashtabula, a son of the late John and Mary Paval Placko.
He was a graduate of Edgewood High School and worked for several years as a security guard in Myrtle Beach and for over 25 years at Rockwell International.
A true jokester, Phillip enjoyed making others laugh and was affectionately known as the family's "fast-food guru." He loved the beach, taking drives through the country, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his beloved cat, Piper.
Most of all, he cherished being a loving father and grandpa to his grandchildren.
Phillip leaves behind his children, Phillip J. (Tina) Placko Jr. of Struthers, Christina Probst of Painesville and Tina (Matt) Skalos of Pittsburgh, Pa.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his former wife, Marjorie Placko-Baker of Ashtabula; and his beloved cat, Piper.
