AUSTINTOWN -- Paul Joseph Franken I, 86, of Austintown, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family.
He was born Oct. 30, 1939, in Youngstown, a son of the late Rudolph and Florence Null Franken.
He was an avid Ohio State football and Cleveland Indians baseball fan. Paul was skilled at fishing, bowling and playing cards, as well as watching horse racing. He loved doing the Vindy crossword puzzles. However, his greatest joy was found in his family.
Paul leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and countless cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by his children, Karen (Ken) Chu, Rebecca DiRocco, Rudy (Cathy) Franken and Mark (Melody) Franken; stepchildren, Daniel Clark and David (Jean) Clark; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Elaine Boomhower and Patricia O'Brien, and his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara.
Paul's family will receive relatives and friends from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, at Lane Funeral Home, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown, OH 44515.
Funeral services will immediately follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
He will be laid to rest with his wife, Barbara, in Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
