YOUNGSTOWN -- A life of service, steady dedication and memorable passions is celebrated in the remembrance of Patrick Michael Keevey, 75, of Youngstown, who passed away Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, in Youngstown.
Born on Dec. 7, 1950, in Youngstown, to John and Mary Furphy Keevey, Patrick built a life deeply rooted in the city he called home. He graduated from Chaney High School in 1969, beginning a path that would be marked by commitment to country, community, work and family.
He served in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1973 aboard the USS Graham County during the Vietnam era. That chapter of his life stood as an important part of his story and reflected years spent in service beyond himself.
After his time in the Navy, he returned to civilian life and worked for US Steel for many years, contributing to a field long associated with the strength and identity of the Mahoning Valley. He later joined the Youngstown City Fire Department, continuing his record of public service until his retirement.
His life carried both the familiar and the far-reaching. While Youngstown remained central to his story, Patrick also traveled widely and made frequent trips to Ireland, the homeland of his parents, where he continued to have family. Those journeys formed another meaningful thread in his life, connecting his present to family roots and to places beyond home.
Patrick also took great enjoyment in following the teams that meant the most to him. He was a fan of the Browns, Indians, Cavs and Notre Dame, and those loyalties were part of the everyday pleasures that helped define his life. Whether through travel, service, work, or sports, his days reflected lasting interests and strong connections.
Patrick is survived by his daughters, Bridget and Mollie; and by his grandchildren, Devan and Alaina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Furphy Keevey; and by his brothers, James and John.
His life reflected many forms of commitment: military service during the Vietnam era; years in industry; service with the fire department; and enduring ties to both Youngstown and Ireland. These were not small parts of his story but enduring pieces of a full and active life. He leaves behind the example of a man whose years were shaped by work, duty, travel and the people and places that remained important to him. As Patrick is remembered, there is much to celebrate in a life that spanned service, family connection and the simple joys of favorite traditions. His memory lives on in the story he built over 75 years and in the many lives that remain connected to his own.
