YOUNGSTOWN -- Patricia J. Poppenger Simpson, 66, born Sept. 29, 1959, to the late Robert and Charlotte Anderson Poppenger of Youngstown, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald L. Simpson Sr., whom she married on Dec. 30, 1992, and who passed away in April of 2011; an older brother, Norman Poppenger, who passed in 1960; and a step-grandchild, Ronald L. Simpson III.
She is survived by her stepchildren, Ronald (Patty) Simpson Jr., Kimberly (Nancy) Schultz and Christine Simpson, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Pam (Ray) Schraider; and her nephew, Robert (Nicole) Schraider.
She worked as a hostess at Bob Evans for nearly 30 years and enjoyed the people she worked with and getting to help all of the customers. She belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3298 of Austintown. She attended Pleasant Valley Church with her family and was very proud of her faith.
Patti enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles, playing Chickenfoot (Dominoes), reading and playing on her tablet. She loved animals, especially her late dog, Shadow.
There will be no calling hours or services per the request of the family.

Patti and her sister, Pam, would like to extend their gratitude to all the wonderful staff at Guardian Windsor House on Belmont Avenue for the great care that was given to Patti for the last 13 years. We would also like to thank everyone who took the time to come and visit Patti. Your visits meant more than words can ever say.
