Nicola Guglielmo 1928-2026

YOUNGSTOWN -- Nicola "Nick" Guglielmo, of Youngstown, found eternal rest with Our Lord on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, at the age of 98. He left this world comfortably in the presence of family.

He was born on Aug. 23, 1928, in Tremensuoli (Minturno), Italy, to Francesco "Frank" and Annunziata "Nancy" Guglielmo.

Tremensuoli is a mountaintop village overlooking both the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Apennine mountains. He lived there with his mother and younger sister, Nancy, while their father, Frank, and older brother, Andy, worked in the United States. They lived in Italy at a time when Germany occupied the land and survived the effects of war.

After World War II, he emigrated to the USA with his mother and sister in February 1948 and settled in Youngstown. Nick received Jesuit schooling and graduated high school in Italy. He attended South High School to learn English and worked in the steel mills.

Nick worked at the mills here and in Chicago and retired as a crane operator.

He met his wife Olga in Chicago in 1952, married in 1954 and raised a family in Youngstown.

Nick is survived by his wife of 72 years, Olga, and their children, Nancy (Richard) Waite, Anna Guglielmo, DDS, and Nicholas Guglielmo. He also leaves behind a granddaughter, Jaime Waite Oakley, and great-grandchildren, August and Boden Waite.

Nick was preceded by his siblings, Andrew Guglielmo and Nancy Carrino, and grandson, Andrew Waite.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, at St. Dominic Church, 77 E. Lucius Ave., Youngstown. There are no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman.
