POLAND -- Martha May Loyd, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Martha was born on July 24, 1934, in Oak Hill, W.Va., the daughter of the late Frank H. and Margie L. Bradley Spangler.
She was a graduate of the former Collins High School in Oak Hill, W.Va.
Martha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her free time, Martha enjoyed sewing and gardening.
She is survived by her three children, Elizabeth (Thom) Groeger of Lead, South Dakota, Janith "Jan" (Tom) Slosser of Lowellville, and Alice (Bill) Hanchosky of Geneva; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty DeMarzo of West Virginia.
Besides her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Houston Loyd, whom she married on Jan. 14,1959, and who passed away on Dec. 24, 2023; a sister, Ellen Kincaid; a brother, Frank Spangler; and a brother-in-law, Paul DeMarzo.
Per Martha's request, there will be no calling hours or services at this time.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
