NEW SPRINGFIELD -- Marian H. Brennard, 93, of New Springfield, died on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026, at her home.
Marian was born on June 25,1933, in Poland, a daughter of the late Theodore and Minnie Berrisford Hanson.
Marian was a member of the New Springfield Church of God.
After graduating from Poland High School in 1951, she worked for the Ohio Bell Telephone Co. in Youngstown.
While raising her three children, Marian, her husband, John, and a friend began the successful Cub Scout program in New Springfield. She also started the Girl Scout program in the community. Marian and John made sure all children in both scouting programs were filled with lots of educational and adventurous activities.
Aside from Scouts, Marian enjoyed reading, traveling and canning vegetables from the garden. She really enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
Marian was married to John L. Brennard Sr. on July 3, 1954. She was married to her husband,
John, for 60 years, prior to his passing on Jan. 7, 2015.
Marian is survived by her two sons, John L. (Lynn) Brennard Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona, and James H. Brennard of Poland; a daughter, Susan C. (Edward) Sprankle of Boardman; two grandsons, Joshua Sprankle and Aaron (Aubrie) Brennard; and two granddaughters, Autumn (Victor) Zachary and Amy (Justin) Roberts. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Daniel, Carlie, Hunter, Hazel and Benjamin.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, John; a grandson, Allen D. Brennard; and a granddaughter, Amanda F. Brennard. She was also preceded in death by her three sisters, Evelyn Broderick, Phyllis Banozic and Leona Sloan.
The family wishes to thank her nephews, Robert and Dr. Richard (Jaimie) Banozic, and their two daughters, Nicole and Allison, for their continuous love and support throughout the years. Thanks to the Sloan family for being an important part of her life, as she always cherished their time together. Thanks to the Broderick family for the special times shared in the past.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, at the New Springfield Church of God.
Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, at the church with Pastor Jonathan Holloway.
Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Springfield Church of God.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
