STRUTHERS - Lawrence Richard Kurtz, 74, went to his eternal home on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026.
Born on Jan. 2, 1952, in Norvelt, Pa., Larry was the son of the late Joseph Martin Kurtz II and Jeanne Malnofski Kurtz. He spent his early years in Pennsylvania before moving to Ohio to be with his family.
Larry graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and worked throughout his career at Western Southern Life, Infocision and Fred Martin Ford.
A proud Mason, he served as Past Master of the former Wick Lodge No. 481 in Youngstown. Larry also took great pride in serving his community as a dedicated election poll worker and was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church.
He enjoyed yard work, cooking, playing card games with family and friends, and watching football as an avid Patriots fan. He also loved traveling with his beloved wife, Kelley. Their favorite destinations included Las Vegas, North Carolina and Niagara Falls, where they spent their honeymoon.
Larry will be remembered for his quick wit, genuine nature, and willingness to help others. Dependable and caring, Larry was someone his friends and family could always count on. His sincerity put people at ease, and those who met him quickly came to like and trust him.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Kelley Kurtz.
He is survived by his brother, Martin (the late Josephine) Kurtz III; his sisters, Arvona Miller and Nancy Kurtz; his nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Larry’s life at a memorial service on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at Heritage Presbyterian Church in Poland. Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m., with the memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service.
Cremation was private.
