CANFIELD -- Joyce A. Bailing, 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026.
Joyce was born on Jan. 31, 1956, in Youngstown, the daughter of Harry and JoAnn McDonald VandenBosch.
Joyce worked as a dispatcher and an EMT for Gold Cross and American Ambulance. She also worked as a foster care provider for MRDD for over 25 years and for Meals on Wheels. She was co-owner of Spartan and Boardman Cab, Cherry Valley Campground, Bailing Maintenance and Landscape, and Buckeye Motors.
In her spare time, she loved to travel, watch NASCAR, drink Dunkin' Donuts coffee and volunteer at several organizations, including Canfield Sports, throughout the time of her grandchildren's play in those organizations.
Joyce was always there for anyone in need. She would answer a call at any time and listen and guide you through any situation. She helped raise and care for her grandchildren by teaching them to drive and spend responsibly. "Save, don't spend," as she would often say. She was also their personal driver for many years.
Joyce is survived by two children, Rebecca Bailing and Brian Bailing, and JoJo Showen, whom she loved like another daughter; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Wendy VandenBosch; brother-in-law, Ben Olsen; and lifelong friends, Anita Smith and Debra Eckenrode.
Her husband, James E. Bailing, whom she married Dec. 24, 1973, passed away on April 24, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Vicky (Mark) Rossi and Karen Olsen; and two brothers, Ben and Carl VandenBosch.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman, followed by a 1 p.m. funeral service.
"I have lived an amazing life full of family, a wonderful husband and great travels. I have lived through the good, the bad and the ugly and always come through OK, until this time, of course." LOL.
