STRUTHERS -- John P. Panamarczuk, 69, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
He was born on Nov. 16, 1956, in Youngstown, a son of the late Walter and Maria Karniewicz Panamarczuk. He graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1974 and immediately went to work at General Extrusions Inc., where he stayed until his retirement in 2023.
Family was an important part of John's life. He was the ultimate girl dad, and his daughters were "Daddy's girls" from the very beginning. He was a steady and involved presence throughout their childhood and remained someone they could always turn to when they needed help, or, occasionally, when they found themselves in a little trouble. Later, he became Grandpa, or "Guppy," to Zachary and Nora and enjoyed being part of their lives as they grew.
John was remarkably handy and resourceful and could fix nearly anything. He seemed to have a tool for every imaginable job. He was also thoughtful in his own way and often remembered the little things people mentioned in passing, sometimes showing up later with something he thought they might need or enjoy. He enjoyed good food and a good drink, and once he found a restaurant he liked, he quickly became a regular.
Stubborn, thoughtful and entirely himself, John had no shortage of tools, collections and projects, and he had a way of doing things that was uniquely his own.
He leaves behind his daughters, Susan (Rob) Pruden and Lisa (fiancé, Will Countner) Cavell; his grandchildren, Zachary and Nora Pruden, and Edie Countner; his sister, Theresa (Carl) Krawiec; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Panamarczuk; nephews, Steven, Kevin (Lisa), and Michael (Niki) Panamarczuk; great-nephews, Alex, Fox, and Grayson; and great-nieces, Ava and Mila.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by the love of his life, the former Dorie Snyder, whom he married on March 16, 1984, and who passed away on Sept. 4, 2010; his brother, Peter Panamarczuk; and his sister, Christine Panamarczuk.
Friends and family will be received from 11 to 11:45 a.m., followed immediately by a funeral service at noon, Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland.
