YOUNGSTOWN -- John J. Porubensky, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
John was born March 18, 1944, in Youngstown, a son of John and Ann Samplak Porubensky, and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a 1962 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and attended St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church.
He worked as a scrap burner at WCI for 42 years.
In his spare time John enjoyed working on cars.
John is survived by his nephews, Matthew Seals and James Seals. He also leaves two great-nephews, Mark Seals and Nick Seals.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann; his sisters, Rose Seals, Dolores McKinney and Mary Ann Porubensky; and his brother, Michael Porubensky.
Calling hours will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, at the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell.
A prayer service will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral of Divine Liturgy at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Youngstown.
John will be laid to rest in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Cemetery.
