STRUTHERS -- James A. Marco, 89, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, with his family by his side.
Jim was born July 23, 1937, and graduated from East High School in 1956. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was a proud Army veteran and spent much of his working life as a meat cutter/meat manager for Loblaws, Valu King and Giant Eagle.
On June 20, 1959, Jim married the love of his life, Frances "Fay" Traficant Marco, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful family and a lifetime of memories.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Fay; his children, Jim (Laurie) Marco of Canfield, Pat (Lois) Marco of Boardman and Michelle (Vince) Malkovits of Canfield; his grandchildren, Jim (Carly) Marco of Liberty, Lexi (Scott) Lendak of Boardman and Vincent and Michael Malkovits of Canfield; and his great-granddaughter, Lillian Lendak.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Helen Marco; his sister, Barbara Vukovich; and his brother-in-law, Pat Traficant.
Jim was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish. He enjoyed football and coached for the Struthers Wildcats, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He loved vacationing in Florida, spending time with his grandchildren, sipping coffee on the front porch, reading, gardening and having Sunday dinner with his family. He treasured the moments spent together and will be remembered for the love he gave to those closest to him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Heritage Manor, Patriot Hospice and everyone who cared for Jim and supported him and his family throughout this difficult time. Your kindness, compassion and support will always be deeply appreciated.
Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, at Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman. Prayers will begin at noon, followed by a 1 p.m. Memorial Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, with the Very Rev. Monsignor John Zuraw, J.C.L., VG, officiating.
Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery when Jim's dedicated service to our country will be further honored with full military honors provided by the great men of VFW Post 9571 of Ellsworth.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made, in Jim's memory, to Heritage Manor Skilled Nursing Facility, Patriot Hospice or the Veterans Administration.
