CANFIELD -- David A. Hardy Sr., 85, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, Aug. 29, 2026, with his loving family by his side.
He was born on Oct. 15, 1940, in Youngstown, the son of Michael Hardy, and raised by his grandparents Hattie and George Matthews.
After graduating from East High School in 1959, David enlisted in the Marine Corps, where he was awarded the Pistol Expert and Rifle Sharpshooter Badges. He was honorably discharged in 1963 at the rank of corporal.
David owned the D.A. Hardy Furnace Cleaning Co. for 40 years and later worked at Crossroads Church doing maintenance work.
He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing.
David leaves to cherish his memory, the love of his life, the former Eleanor A. Fantone, whom he married Aug. 27, 1960; sons, David (Traci) Hardy, Michael Hardy and Vincent (Denise) Hardy; brother, Michael (Pam) Hardy; grandchildren, Amanda (Matthew) Narducci, Nicholas Hardy, Brittany Hardy, Zachary (Shawna) Hardy, Deanna (Zachary) Morehead, Meagan Hardy, Nicole (Antuane) Josey and Cassie Fantone; and great-grandchildren, Liliana, Luca, Mariah, Jake, Colton, Vanessa, Madison, Adalyn, Aria and Alana.
Family and friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman, followed by a funeral service at 1:30.
He will be laid to rest at Lake Park Cemetery with military honors.
The Hardy family has requested any material tributes be made in David's memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
