YOUNGSTOWN -- Ann Caizza, 92, formerly of Youngstown, passed away on Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, surrounded by her children.
Ann was born in Youngstown in 1933 to Ann Marie Stoick and Nicholas Drajic. She was one of five children and was preceded in death by her siblings, Steve, George, Nick and Margaret.
An accomplished student, Ann graduated with honors from Wilson High School. She later worked as an administrative assistant at Sears Roebuck.
Ann married Anthony Joseph Caizza, who preceded her in death, and together they raised five children, Rosemary Caizza (deceased), Louise (Caizza) Reda of Tampa, Florida, Anthony Caizza of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, Dr. Mary (Caizza) Cerni of Hacienda Heights, California, and Betty (Caizza) Poffenberger of Osprey, Florida.
Ann later went to work for Ohio Edison, where she spent 10 years as a meter reader. She was the oldest woman to hold the position at the company and earned the respect of both her customers and co-workers for her remarkable work ethic and dedication.
Ann was also an active member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Church in Youngstown.
Ann loved her family with every part of her heart. She found deep joy in life's simple gifts, especially baking, gardening and caring for the people she loved. Her home was filled with warmth and the comforting aromas of fresh food and baked goods.
Ann leaves seven grandchildren, Jaclyn (Reda) Grzybowski, Candice (Reda) Rodriguez, Amanda (Caizza) Folkers, Dr. Max Cerni, Mary Grace Cerni, James Cameron Poffenberger IV, and Justin Anthony Poffenberger, who preceded her in death in 2023.
Her legacy continues through her six great-grandchildren, Demi, Sevi and Scottie Rodriguez, Reese and Boyd Grzybowski, and Luke Folkers.
Ann's life was a beautiful testament to simplicity, strength, devotion and unconditional love. She gave endlessly, complained rarely and greeted each day with a smile that reflected her quiet courage and generous heart.
An interment service will be at the chapel at Calvary Cemetery on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, at 2 p.m. Friends, family, and acquaintances are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made, in Ann's memory, to the Dementia Society of America or Easterseals.
