Walter E. Williams 1941-2026

CANFIELD -- Walter E. Williams, 84, of Canfield, passed away Saturday afternoon, Aug. 1, 2026, at the Hospice House in Poland.

He was born Aug. 2, 1941, in Warren, the son of Walter and Marguerite Williams.

Walter was a 1959 graduate of Mineral Ridge High School, where he excelled in playing basketball. He then went on to attend Kent State University and YSU and achieved a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He worked as a state highway patrolman for two years, before he began his career with the former Packard Electric Corp. in Warren. There he worked for more than 20 years, prior to retiring.

Walter was very active and enjoyed many different activities. Prior to suffering a devastating leg injury which hindered him in his later years he was an avid skier, he loved boating on Berlin Lake, riding his Harley, and he was a licensed pilot, owning three planes throughout his life. He also saw the world through his work at Packard, having visited Australia, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Korea, Mexico and much of the U.S., and after his retirement he established a successful alarm installation company.

He is survived by his loving companion and caregiver, Margaret G. Cullinan of Canfield; two children: daughter, Michelle Williams of North Carolina and son, Jamie Williams of Austintown; three stepchildren, Lee Hively, Rebecca Haskin and Ryan Hively; and two grandchildren.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the Lane Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel, 1350 N. Canfield Niles Road, Mineral Ridge.

Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

He will be laid to rest in the Canfield Village Cemetery.
