RAVENNA -- Thomas Price Flynn Sr., 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026, surrounded by his family and loyal dog, Abby.
Born May 5, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pa., Tom grew up in Solon.
He graduated from Solon High School and John Carroll University before proudly serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He spent his career empowering students at ITT Technical Institute and served as the Hall of Fame varsity baseball coach at Cardinal Mooney High School, compiling a 197-128 record, with seven SVC titles.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia; his sister, Patricia Karasek; and his brother-in-law, Richard Karasek.
Tom is survived by his wife of 20 years, Janice Criswell Flynn; his children, Tom (Leigh), Sean (Nicole), Ryan (Lisa), Shannon (Joshua) Lafferty, Shannon (Shade) Stevens, Trisha Williams and Ted (Erika) Williams; his former wife, Patricia Stull; his nephew, Gregory (Tami) Karasek; 14 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Tom's family extends special thanks to the staff at Grand Village Assisted Living in Twinsburg, Ohio, for making it a true second home for the past 2 1/2 years, where Tom enjoyed nightly pinochle and bingo with friends. The family is also deeply grateful to the team at Reserve Care Hospice for their compassionate care and for providing a tranquil facility during his peaceful final days.
A memorial visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. Aug. 10, at Immaculate Conception Church, 409 W. Main St., Ravenna, OH 44266.
