STRUTHERS -- Susan Joyce Johns, 86, formerly of Struthers, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at Beeghly Oaks Center for Rehabilitation and Healing in Boardman.
Susan, affectionately known as "Sue" by her family and friends, was born on Sept. 24, 1939, in Indiana, Pa., a daughter of the late Sue Karosi and Albert Tulipano.
She moved to Albert Street in Youngstown as a young child and graduated from East High School in 1957.
Sue enjoyed dancing with the soldiers as a member of the USO.
Sue began her career at Plakie Toys in Youngstown, before joining Mahoning County Job and Family Services in 1982, where she worked as a clerk for many years until her retirement.
A devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Sue found her greatest joy in her family. In her free time, she was an avid reader and had a lifelong love of American Indian artwork and her pets. She will be remembered for her welcoming smile, kind heart, quiet strength and the love she shared with those around her.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Katherine (Robert) Brawn of Warren; her son, William H. (Julie) Johns of Struthers; her sister, Judith Carney of Lowellville; five grandchildren, Jessica Rankin, Thomas Rankin, Christopher Johns, Nicole Johns and Devin Johns; two nephews, Robert (Debbie) Schulte and Louis Schulte; and her niece, Denise (Doug) Romo.
In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Gerard Carney.
Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026, at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman.
A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Veneice Andrews.
Burial will take place in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman.
