Raymond J. Dunn 1941-2026

NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Raymond J. Dunn, 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, Aug. 6, 2026, with his daughter at his side, at Christian House Assisted Living and Health Care.

He was born on Jan. 3, 1941, in Youngstown, a son of the late Raymond and Margaret Scanlon Dunn and was a lifelong area resident.

A graduate of South High School in 1958, Raymond served as a mechanic in the Army Reserve for six years and later attended Youngstown State University.

He married the love of his life, Nancy Grim, on July 1, 1961, at St. Patrick Church; sadly, she passed away July 5, 2019.

Raymond's employment began at Youngstown Sheet and Tube in Struthers; he then worked as a pipe fitter and machine builder at Wean United Engineering until 1984.

Raymond and his brother, William Dunn, were co-owners of Custom Painting until retirement.

Ray and his family have been lifelong parishioners at St. Patrick Church, Youngstown.

He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and visiting the national parks.

Left to cherish Raymond's memory are his beloved daughter, Susan Dunn, and son-in-law, Thomas Slaven of New Middletown, with whom Raymond made his home.

He also leaves his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Jane Walker of Phoenix, Arizona, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and his wife, Raymond was preceded in death by his brother, William Dunn; his sister, Peggy Morgan; his sisters-in-law, Delores Gallace and Lois Carpenter; and his brothers-in-law, Robert Grim and Richard Grim.

Friends and family may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman.

Calling hours will also be available from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown, celebrated by the Rev. Monsignor Robert Siffrin.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, where Raymond will be laid to rest next to his wife.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
