Peter J. Vitucci 1936-2026

RAVENNA -- Peter J. "Pete" Vitucci, 90, passed away Monday, Aug. 17, 2026.

Born at home in Youngstown on May 5, 1936, to Panfilo and Lidia Pinciaro Vitucci, he was a proud first-generation American and a graduate of East High School, class of 1954.

Pete worked at a local steel mill until drafted and then served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961, stationed in Germany. In 1962, he became an employee of the State of Ohio, retiring from the State Highway Patrol in 1988 and the State Medical Board in 2007. He then worked part-time for nine years at a local auto dealership, and later did volunteer work until his wife became ill and he retired to take care of her.

Pete was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed reading and jogging well into his 70s -- and later walking. He was devoted to his wife, Regina M. Perkowski Vitucci, whom he married on May 6, 1967; Regina preceded Pete in death.

In addition to his wife, Regina, Pete was preceded by an infant son, Damian Vincent; his parents; and his brother-in-law, Sam Pagano.

Pete is survived by his daughters, Marcie (Greg) Barberio of Winter Garden, Florida, Melanie Vitucci of Ravenna, and Melissa (Dan) Marzec of Stow; and his sister, Dahlia Pagano of Girard. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Abby and Ava Barberio, Damian Diroll, Jacob, Ben, and Will Marzec; and his nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Church, 409 W. Main St., Ravenna.

Entombment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to Harmony Hospice or Special Olympics Portage County, 2500 Brady Lake Road, Ravenna, OH 44266.
