YOUNGSTOWN -- Mary Jane Lasher passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the age of 104 and is now in heaven with her beloved sister, Eleanor.
Mary was born on July 24, 1922, in Youngstown to Joseph H. and Agnes Morgan and resided there much of her life.
She graduated from South High School and Youngstown College. She joined the Army in 1943 and was sent to Michigan to be trained in physical therapy. She was commissioned as a lieutenant and sent to El Paso, Texas, where she helped returning servicemen to recover from their wounds. After being discharged, she returned to Youngstown and became head of the physical therapy department at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Mary Jane was also an accomplished musician and played three instruments, including saxophone, bassoon and oboe. She joined the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra and was good enough to solo occasionally.
She married Abert Lasher on July 25, 1953.
She leaves her nephew, Edwin I. Davies III (Lois); great-nephews, Edwin I. IV and Christian; great-niece, Courtney Davis (Zach); and great-nephew, Josh Diller (Victoria) and their children, Sebastian and Flora.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Youngstown, OH 44512.
