Mark A. Susany 1951-2026

Mark A. Susany

BOARDMAN -- Mark A. Susany, 74, passed away Thursday morning, July 30, 2026, at Hospice House, with the comfort and love of his family by his side.

Mark "Suz" was born Aug. 26, 1951, in Youngstown, the son of the late Andrew and Mary Paladenech Susany.

He attended SS. Peter and Paul School and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1969.

Mark was a proud veteran of the United States Army.

He worked various jobs over the course of his life and loved to talk about his time as a ride operator in Kiddieland at Idora Park, where he would sneak extra rides for kids if they asked; making cones for Handel's Ice Cream; Youngstown Sheet & Tube; and ultimately as a truck driver. He spent many years driving for Nick Strimbu Inc, then went onto Schwebel's, Graybar Electric and Johnsrud Transport Inc, where he finally retired after over 30 years on the road.

He was a very proud and accomplished truck driver who earned many safety awards while navigating over 3 million miles.

He was a faithful member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Youngstown, where he and his family regularly attended Mass with his father before transferring to St. Dominic Church.

Mark was a jokester who loved to talk to everyone about everything. He loved to tell stories and hear what people had to say and could often be found on the front porch with his wide beaming smile, chatting with the neighbors.

But more than anything, he loved the time he spent with his family, especially the love of his life, Roseann, his wife of 51 years, and their five children and 10 grandchildren. He loved taking impromptu trips to Geneva and Presque Isle to marvel at Lake Erie, often attending various sporting and school events, taking walks around the neighborhood with his grandchildren after Sunday dinners, looking at cars, listening to music of all kinds and popping into antique stores. He was a creative and loving man who always lived by his own set of rules.

Mark leaves to forever cherish his memory his wife, Roseann (Fairall) Susany; sons, Brad Susany, Joshua (Tia) Susany, Corey (Lindsay) Susany and Casey (Jessica) Susany; only daughter, Brandy (Brad) Angus; grandchildren, Lucas, Alexis, Lilah, Corey, Payton, Hannah, Breanna, Leah, Boston and Brooklyn; sister, Martha (Magdy) Iskander; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Koncheck; brother, James Susany; mother-in-law, Patricia Gayge; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Fairall and Michael Koncheck; nephew, Joseph Whitacre; and niece, Michelle (Koncheck) Calabria.

A Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2026, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 77 E. Lucius Ave., Youngstown, OH 44507.

Afterwards, there will be a luncheon and celebration of Mark's life at St. Dominic Parish Center.

His one-of-a-kind life will forever be an inspiration, a testament to the power of an indomitable spirit fueled by curiosity and resilience. Mark will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to honor Mark's legacy of living outside the box with joy and wonderment by doing so in your own life. This, we believe, would be the best tribute to his extraordinary life.

Family and friends are encouraged to offer prayers for the family by visiting the Book of Memories at www.rossifunerals.com.
