YOUNGSTOWN -- In the comfort of the home she occupied for 61 years and in the presence of her loving family, Lorriane H. Milanek, 89, peacefully entered the arms of her Lord, Jesus Christ, at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, one week before her 67th wedding anniversary.
Lorraine Helen was born May 2, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Richard Henry Yecko and Clara Ackerman Yecko.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, cherished sister and aunt, and a treasured friend to many. Her greatest joy and most precious blessing in life was her family. She loved deeply, cared generously and devoted her life to helping and caring for those around her.
Lorraine graduated from Carrick High School, then Burroughs Business Machine, training as a comptometer operator.
During high school, Lorraine worked as a part-time bookkeeper at Barton Motor Co. She then worked for several companies, including Westinghouse Electric Lamp Division as the personal secretary to corporate manager of sales; GMAC, performing administrative duties; Weight Limited, as a motivational speaker and coach; and Mahoning Bank, as branch head teller.
She was a longtime member of St. Luke Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and made many of the white baptismal garments used in this sacrament. She was selected to be one of the first women's "Christ Renews His Parish" team at St. Luke. She furthered her desire to evangelize by first making a Cursillo weekend and then working on subsequent Cursillo teams, acting as rector on women's team No. 37.
She was also a member of the Transplant Garden Club, 500 Card Club and a member and past president of the Youngstown Chapter of the Embroidery Guild of America. Lorraine was an excellent seamstress, making draperies, valances and bedspreads for her home, clothing for her children, and was most proud of making a full set of clothes for her husband, including a sports jacket, trousers, shirt and even a tie. She was adept at many forms of needlework but was especially gifted in cross-stitching.
Her home was graced by many of her works. Her favorite was a five-panel depiction of the Nativity, which has often been displayed at St. Luke Church during the Christmas season. She also enjoyed gift wrapping. One year as a lark, she entered two samples of her gift wrapping at the Canfield Fair, both winning blue ribbons.
Lorraine will always be remembered lovingly by her husband, Deacon Richard Milanek, whom she married on Aug. 29, 1959; four children, Beth (Keith) Rober, Rick (April) Milanek, Brian (Joni) Milanek and Renee (Mike) Glover; 12 grandchildren, Andrea (Mike) Biegenwald, Drew (Diana) Rober, Nichole Foor, Angela (B.J.) Montgomery, Dillon Prickett, Kari (Mark) Wagner, Brian Milanek, Jacob Milanek, Adam (Haylee) Price, Alex (Deanna) Price, Austin Price and Alexis Glover; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janice Hrivnak.
Lorraine lived a full, fruitful life, loving and being loved by her husband, children and grandchildren.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by a 6:30 p.m. Bible Vigil on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman.
Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena Parish at St. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave., Boardman.
The Milanek family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Robin and Brenda Dawson for the tender and loving personal care Lorraine received over the past year. Thank you also to Lacey at Akeso Home Hospice for offering the many resources that made her last months comfortable.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in Lorraine's name to the St. Luke St. Vincent de Paul Society.
