BOARDMAN -- Kathleen C. Franceschelli, 74, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, Aug. 7, 2026, with her family by her side.
Kathy was born June 26, 1952, in Youngstown, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Jane Smith Giampietro.
She was the co-owner of Mario's Restaurant and owner of Gampetro's Italian Carry-out for many years. Kathy also worked as a corrections officer at the Ohio State Penitentiary for over 20 years.
Kathy enjoyed spending her time with her family, especially the time spent with her nieces and their children. She also enjoyed going to the casino.
Kathy will always be remembered lovingly by her three siblings, Chris (Mike) Cunningham, Sam Giampetro and Lee Giampetro; her two nieces, Nicole (John) Muckridge and Krista (Mike) Ramirez; great-niece, Ava; four great-nephews, Jack, Luke, Evan and Elliot; and the many cousins whom she grew up with and adored.
Besides her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her brother, Craig Giampietro.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman, followed by an 11 a.m. celebration of life.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Hospice House and Aventura at Assumption Village, especially to nurses, Michaela and Danielle and aides, Amber and Matti for the exceptional care given to Kathy.
