SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Judy Shirilla, 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Regency Hospice in Springfield, Illinois.
Judy was born Feb. 17, 1952, in Youngstown, a daughter of Dan and Dorothy Adams Shirilla. In 1970 she moved from Campbell to Illinois.
She graduated as valedictorian in 1970 from Campbell Memorial High School. Judy was selected and attended math camp at MacMurray College. When she graduated high school, she was awarded Miss Betty Crocker of Ohio. She went on to represent the state of Ohio in Washington, D.C.
Judy went on to MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois, to earn her bachelor's degree in math and computer science, graduating cum laude. She then became employed with the state of Illinois as a computer programmer in the revenue department.
Judy enjoyed animals and was a sponsor in the Animal Protective League. She always had rescue dogs.
She was a parishioner of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Campbell.
Judy will be deeply missed and always remembered by her brother, Jerry (Pauline) Shirilla of Hubbard; her niece, Jennifer Shirilla of Mansfield; her nephew, Jeffrey Shirilla of Campbell; and also special friends in Rochester, Illinois, Fred and Sheri Wrightam. The family will remain forever grateful to Fred and Sheri for their kind and compassionate care throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The Shirilla family has entrusted Judy's care to the Wasko Funeral Home, Campbell, where a memorial service took place at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, was officiated by the Very Rev. Kevin E. Marks.
Judy was laid to rest in St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Campbell.
