AUSTINTOWN -- On Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, John Hendershot Jr. passed away at the age of 92.
He was born on June 3, 1934, in Vienna, to the late John and Frances Yousko Hendershot.
After graduating from Jackson-Milton High School, he began his career as a press operator at the Packaging Corporation of America, where he worked for many years.
In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, watching NASCAR and cheering on the Cleveland Guardians. John also enjoyed his time doing woodworking crafts with his wife.
John leaves behind his beloved wife of 70 years, Frances Hunter Hendershot, whom he married June 9, 1956; daughters Debbie (Larry) McKay of Boardman and Barb Pitt of Boardman; proud grandfather to Michael McKay, Kimberly McKay and Emily Hendershot; and great-grandfather to Johnathan McKay and Christion Johnstone. John also leaves a sister, Rosemary Hendershot of Ravenna; a sister-in-law, RoseAnn Hendershot of Newton Falls; and several nieces and a nephew.
He is also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Hendershot, and his granddaughter, Erin McKay.
Calling hours will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, with a service to follow at 11 a.m., all located at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
