HOT SPRINGS, Ark. -- Janet Stone, 78, a former resident of the area who passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, lived a life marked by faith, courage and passion.
She was born on March 29, 1948, in Salem, the beloved daughter of the late Edith and Robert Stone, and from her earliest days she carried within her a spirit that would one day bless many lives.
Janet lived with purpose, and she brought strength, compassion and encouragement wherever she went. Janet devoted her life to service in ways that reflected both her heart and her calling. As a social worker, she gave her time, energy and compassion to people who needed understanding and support.
She understood that one life can change another, and she lived that truth every day. Her commitment to helping others extended even further when she became the owner of a home for severely mentally disabled youth. That responsibility required patience, resilience and deep love, and Janet gave all of that and more. She faced challenges with courage and did not turn away from hard things. Instead, she leaned into them with a faithful heart and a determined spirit.
Janet had a passion for helping women recover from addiction. A passion that stayed with her all the way through her life. Her work in that setting reflected her belief that every life has value and every person deserves care.
Janet also built a career as a real estate agent, where she continued to serve others by helping them find homes and new beginnings. Real estate was not just a career, but also a hobby she greatly enjoyed. Throughout her life she enjoyed buying and fixing older homes and seeing them brought to new life. She did not just see what was but what could be, both in homes and people alike.
Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life. Janet loved the Lord, and her faith shaped the way she lived, worked and loved. She found strength in Bible study, peace in worship music, and joy in the presence of God. She was not only faith-filled in words, but also in action. She believed in hope, she believed in perseverance, and she believed in every person's ability to achieve their purpose through living a life with Jesus at their side.
Janet found joy in simple and meaningful pleasures. She loved horseback riding, playing guitar, and gardening. She enjoyed sharing her vegetable garden with friends, family and caregivers. She enjoyed listening to worship music, and she treasured the comfort and encouragement it brought to her heart. She valued Bible study because it deepened her walk with God and strengthened her spirit. She also loved visiting with friends and family, and those moments of connection meant the world to her.
Besides people, she had a love for all animals and had unique pets, such potbelly pigs and turkeys. She loved animals and had compassion for all of God's creations. Up until her last day on this earth, she achieved her desire to live independently with her beloved pet dog, Baby Girl, at her side.
She passed away in peace and comfort listening to worship music, with her family by her side. Those who knew Janet will remember her as faith-filled, courageous and passionate.
She was a woman who lived with intention. She did not wait for life to happen to her. She stepped into each day with purpose and with the kind of strength that encourages others to keep going. She was a motivator by example, showing that a meaningful life is built through service, faith and love. Her presence reminded others that it is possible to face life with both tenderness and strength.
Her true legacy is found in the lives she touched, the people she helped, and the faith she lived so openly. She showed that a life of service is a powerful life and that courage is not the absence of hardship, but the decision to keep moving forward with grace.
Though she has passed from this earthly life, the impact of Janet Stone endures. Her story stands as a reminder to live boldly, love deeply, and trust God fully. She ran her race with determination, and she leaves behind a shining example of what it means to live with faith, courage, and passion.
She is survived by her adopted daughter, Alisha Logan; son-in-law, Clint Logan; and granddaughters, Ari and Delilah Logan.
Her family is planning for a private gathering and service, to be held at a later date, when she will be laid to rest with her beloved parents in the Grandview Cemetery in Salem.
