YOUNGSTOWN -- Frances C. Bizub Miketa, 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Frances was born on Sept. 14, 1929, to Slovak immigrant parents in Mutual, Pa., coming to Ohio in 1955. She enjoyed her childhood and reflecting on lessons learned from the Depression years with her seven brothers and three sisters. Her family was her life, and she enjoyed spending time with them and her three sons.
Throughout her life, Fran loved to travel with family and friends, learning about different cultures and enjoying new experiences. Her family was her real treasure. She was always willing to drive family and friends when needed. Fran's warm heart, strong Catholic faith and colorful spirit will be missed and never forgotten.
Fran volunteered at Stambaugh Auditorium, the Symphony Center, the Youngstown Playhouse and Riverside Gardens for many years. She belonged to the St. Dominic Altar & Rosary Guild and the Ladies FCSLA 161.
Surviving are her three sons, James (Cindy), and John and William (Janet); her grandson, Nick (Brittany); her stepgrandson, Jeremy (Kristen) Creque; her great-grandchildren, Jax Miketa, and Zayda and Cody Creque; and her great-great-grandchildren, Leo and Wren Creque.
Fran deeply cherished her many extended family and friends.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Rose, Sophia and Helen; and seven brothers, Michael, Joseph, George, Stephen, Andrew, Paul and Robert.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Woodlands at Hampton Woods in Poland for the excellent care Frances received. They would also say thank you to Dr. Francis Turocy, who cared for Frances for over 40 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by the Rev. Frassati Davis, will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, at St. Dominic Church, 77 E. Lucius Ave., Youngstown.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, at Kubina-Yuhasz Funeral Home, 5925 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
The burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
The family has requested that material tributes in Fran's memory be sent to the St. Dominic Church.
