AUSTINTOWN -- David James Mayzik, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the age of 72.
Born on May 7, 1954, in Youngstown, David was a son of Leroy Stephen and Josephine D. Maxgay Mayzik.
David earned his bachelor's degree in physics and went on to obtain a master's degree in mechanical engineering.
For 20 years, he applied his knowledge and skills as an engineer with Raytheon Technologies until his retirement in 2000.
Outside of his professional life, David was known for his love of dining out, passionate enthusiast of geology and often seen wandering through museums. He loved hanging out with the neighbors, happily messing around with their lawnmowers.
David is survived by his sister, Frances Mayzik, who will forever hold his memory close to her heart.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel. Prayers will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Blaise Parish-Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Austintown.
