AUSTINTOWN -- Carl R. "Dick" Schumacker passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Dick was born on Nov. 13, 1940, in Dixon, Ill., a son of the late Chester and Stella Jones Schumaker.
He enlisted in the United States Army and was part of the 101st Airborne Division, from which he was honorably discharged in September 1964.
He married Maggie Mussler on Sept. 22, 1973; and they shared 52 wonderful years together.
Dick was of the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Christine Church.
He enjoyed riding his 1998 Road King and his 1950 Ford. He rode his bike all over the country. He especially enjoyed going to Sturgis.
He owned and operated a Peterbilt semi and worked as an over-the-road truck driver for 40 years.
Dick will be dearly missed and remembered always by his wife, Maggie; brothers, James (Louise), Chester (Georgianna) and Dale; brothers-in-law, Joe and Jim Mussler (Lulu); and several nieces and nephews, including Emily Leancu, Stacy (Keri) Schumaker, Andy Schumaker, Shawn (Brandy) Schumaker, Robert and Matt Breckner, Kevin Guthrie, James (Chantel) Mussler and Michele (Pervis) Patrick.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Bettye (Don) Berger, Ethel (Wilbur) Ross, Yvonne, Barbara and Cecil (Ron) Chidester; and his brothers, Ronnie and Wayne.
Thank you to the staff at Omni Manor in Youngstown for the special care they gave to Dick.
Private services have taken place at St. Catherine of Siena Parish-St. Christine Church, Youngstown, celebrated by the Rev. John Jerek and were followed by military honors provided by the United States Army.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
