YOUNGSTOWN -- With profound sadness and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Aida Luz Rodriguez, also known as "Yayin," who entered eternal rest on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, in Youngstown, at the age of 78.
She was born on Jan. 22, 1948, in Juncos, Puerto Rico, to her beloved mother, Ignacia Rosa and stepfather, Antonio Flores.
Aida dedicated 13 years of service to Dinesol Plastics before retiring. She worked hard throughout her life, always putting her family first and serving as a source of strength, wisdom and unconditional love. She was full of life and laughter. She enjoyed spending time playing bingo, visiting the casino, listening to music, dancing and singing. Her joyful spirit, infectious smile and love for celebration brought happiness to everyone around her. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcomed, valued and loved.
Aida was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. She was married to her beloved husband, Miguel Rodriguez, with whom she built a loving home and raised three daughters, Wanda Rodriguez (Frank), Wilma Rodriguez and Carmen Rodriguez.
Her greatest accomplishment was the beautiful family she created and nurtured. Through her unwavering love, guidance and strength, she was blessed to witness four generations of family, instilling love, faith and togetherness in each generation.
Her legacy lives through her six cherished grandchildren, Frank Gibson-Gauna (Preston), Vanity Ferrell (David), Courtney Gauna, Ariana Mendoza (Luis), Nicollette Aponte, and Cheyenne Huerta (Antwan). She was also a proud great-grandmother to four great-grandsons and a treasured great-great-grandmother to one great-great-granddaughter.
She was one of nine siblings and is survived by her loving sister, Georgina Rivera (Tomas), and her brother, Manuel Flores (Margarita).
Aida was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Miguel Rodriguez; her parents; and siblings.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in knowing that her love and legacy will continue through the family she cherished so deeply. She leaves behind countless memories that will forever be treasured by those who knew and loved her.
