William C. Davidson 1947-2026

He was born April 11, 1947, a son of the late Richard Cole and Helen Gertrude Fellers Davidson.

Bill graduated from Boardman High School in 1965 before continuing his education at Ohio University. He later earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Youngstown State University in 1970. He was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity, where he formed lifelong friendships.

Bill leaves behind his high school sweetheart of 55 years, the former Edith “Edie” Small, whom he married July 31, 1971; his two daughters, Sara (AJ) Turner of Poland and Becky (Geoff) Crowley of Canfield; four grandchildren, Reagan and Johnny Turner, Jasper and River Crowley; brother, Tom (Nancy) Davidson of Hubbard; his sister-in-law, Linda (Robert) Campbell of Florida; as well as a niece, six nephews and numerous great-nieces and -nephews.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, and the very best “Papa” to his grandchildren, who were the joy of his life. Gentle, kind, and always quick with a smile, he was the sweetest man, a steady source of encouragement, and his family’s biggest cheerleader. He could often be found attending his grandchildren’s performances and sporting events.

Bill served his country as a member of the Army Reserve at the SSG John H. Kunkel United States Army Reserve Center in Warren. Bill combined his love of bicycles and his passion for cycling into a profession when he purchased Boardman Cycle Center from his uncle, John C. Fellers, in 1980. He was proud to sponsor a Bicycle Motocross team and to be a founding member of the Out-Spokin’ Wheelmen Bicycle Club. Later, he joined Microsys Computing, which became Henry Schein Medical Systems. Here he sold medical billing software from 1993 until his retirement in 2014. His dedication and impact on the company were recognized by having a room at its Boardman office named in his honor.

While Bill was proud of his professional accomplishments, it was the life he built outside of work that meant the most to him. In 1974, he and Edie purchased his grandparents’ home, taking great pride in preserving the family’s multigenerational property. He loved spending time outdoors caring for the yard, watering flowers, feeding the birds, and making his home a place of beauty and comfort. Bill had a wide circle of friends and enjoyed sharing meals at local restaurants with them. He also loved traveling with Edie, visiting most of the 50 states and destinations in Europe and the Caribbean. His favorite trip was in 2025 when they visited Ireland and the home of his ancestors, Scotland.

A faithful member of Boardman United Methodist Church, Bill generously gave of his time by serving on numerous committees throughout the years, including the Staff-Parish Relations Committee, the Finance Committee and the Nominating Committee. His favorite role, however, was being a head usher, where he enjoyed greeting people on Sunday mornings. He will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, quiet servant’s heart, and the countless lives he touched through his warmth, generosity and genuine love for others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Robert and Irene Small; and his brother-in-law, Robert Small Jr.

Friends and family will be welcomed from 10 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Boardman United Methodist Church, followed immediately by a memorial service beginning at noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to either Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512 or to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514, in his memory.
