Shirley Mae Johnson 1930-2026
BOARDMAN — Shirley Mae Johnson, 96, passed away peacefully Monday, July 6, 2026, at Shepherd of the Valley in Poland.
Shirley was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Youngstown, the daughter to the late Wendell and Blanch Rossman Goodhart.
Music was truly one of the great joys of her life. An exceptionally talented pianist, she shared her gift generously, whether playing for church services or simply filling her home with beautiful music. She also had a creative spirit that included a love of knitting and making crafts. Together with her family, they attended craft shows where they would sell wooden creations her husband built and she beautifully finished. She was also an avid collector of badges, a hobby she had enjoyed since childhood.
A woman of deep faith, she was a charter member of Western Reserve United Methodist Church and was formerly active in the Christian Women’s Club. Above all else, she loved her family. Her grandchildren lovingly knew her as “Mimi,” a title she treasured, and there was nothing that brought a bigger smile to her face than spending time with them. She also enjoyed helping organize her high school reunions, cherishing the lifelong friendships she maintained over the years. She will be remembered for the beautiful music she shared, the kindness she showed and the love she poured into her family, leaving memories that will continue to be treasured for generations.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Scott (Joanne) Johnson and Terri Lombardo; her grandchildren, Staci (Keith) Sikora, Kegan (Lauren) Johnson and Marissa (Alex) Nolan; and her great-grandchildren, Luka and Milo Johnson, Holden Sikora, and the Nolan twins who are on the way this fall.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Johnson; and her son-in-law, Gregory Lombardo.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Akeso Hospice in Canfield and Shepherd of the Valley in Poland for the compassionate care of Shirley in her time of need.
Material contributions may be made to the animal charity of your choice in her honor.
She was laid to rest with her husband in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman. Please visit www.beckerfuneralhomes.com to send the family condolences and share your memories.
