Rosalie L. Olson 1939-2026
LOWELLVILLE — Rosalie Lucille Kamensky Olson, 86, passed away Tuesday morning, June 30, 2026, surrounded by love.
Rosalie was cherished by her maternal grandparents, aunts and uncles. She would fondly recall her childhood spent at their family farm and would often reminisce about her Mumka and the preparation of Sunday family dinners. There are few people who leave this world having never spoken an unkind word or harbored a bad bone in their body, and Rosalie was one of them. She possessed a rare gift for making her family feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Her compassion, gentle spirit and unwavering kindness touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Throughout her career, Rosalie dedicated herself to serving others, both professionally and personally. The friendship she fostered during her time of employment at Loblaws allowed her to develop friendships that were priceless. Rosalie spent the majority of her working years as a merchandise buyer for the Society of St. Paul, Alba House Communications. Additionally, as a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish, she was the director of religious education for a lengthy period of time. Her lifelong devotion to her faith and unwavering commitment to the Lowellville community earned her the recognition of Lowellville Citizen of the Year in 1992.
Although she excelled in her career, her true passion was her family. Rosalie raised children with manners, kindness, respect and a great work ethic. She cherished her time spent with them and dedicated her midlife years to helping her daughters raise their children. Her love for her children was only surpassed by the love for her grandchildren. Rosalie was affectionately known as “Nana,” “Nunster” and “Nunka.” She never missed a football game, track meet, cheer event or band concert.
Rosalie was so proud to be 100% Slovak and would frequently enjoy listening and dancing to polka music. Stuffed cabbage, halushki and pirohy were some of her favorite dishes to share with her family. She was an avid reader and would love to spend time at the local library. She was a devout Catholic who recited the Divine Mercy Chaplet and prayed the Rosary daily.
She is survived by her children, Jacque (Brian) Filip and Angel (Bill) Laudermilt, both of Lowellville, Bob (Dr. Mary) Olson of New Martinsville, W.Va., and stepson, Richard (Kathleen) Olson of Lowellville; her treasured grandchildren, Bree (Brandon) Goist, Evan Filip, Livia Laudermilt, Michael and Kathy Olson, and Anna and Ava Koontz; and great-grandsons, Barrett and Bowen Goist. Additionally, she is survived by her beloved brothers, Martin (Jeanie) Kamensky, Michael (Marsha) Kamensky and Kurt (Barb) Kamensky; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rose Kamensky, and brother, John Jr.
Rosalie’s family would like to extend appreciation and gratitude to the nurses from Mercy Health Youngstown 6W Extension and Jeanie, Janine and Jamie for their compassion, kindness and wonderful care they provided.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rosalie’s life 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland. There will be a prayer service at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 131 E. Wood St., Lowellville, with Fr.
