Norma Jean Diver 1934-2026
CANFIELD — Norma Jean Diver, 92, died late Sunday morning, July 5, at UH Portage Medical Center.
She was born April 29, 1934, in Canfield, the daughter of Edward and Inez Fishel Penny.
Norma was a 1952 graduate of Canfield High School.
She married John E. Diver on Nov. 1, 1954. Together they shared 69 years of marriage and many happy memories. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2024.
Norma enjoyed rooting for the Cleveland Indians and playing cards with her friends in their Saturday card club. She also owned and showed Arabian horses for several years, and she was an avid bowler, having been enshrined in the Youngstown Women’s Association Bowling Hall of Fame in 2016. On Oct. 1, 1998, Norma and John opened Amron Lanes in Canfield, which John built and they operated together for many years. She was a kind, loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Main of Ellsworth; and five sons, Terry Diver, Jimmy Diver, Bobby (Kim) Diver, Billy (Danielle) Diver and David (Shannon) Diver, all of Canfield. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Norma was preceded in death by a son, John Diver Jr.; a son-in-law, Tim Main; a brother, Raymond Penny; and a great-granddaughter, Harper.
Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 10, in the chapel at Ellsworth Cemetery, where Norma will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
Friends may call 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel, 65 N. Broad St., Canfield, prior to the services.
