Michael J. Stefanic 1947-2026
GIRARD — Michael J. Stefanic, 78, passed away peacefully on Independence Day, Saturday, July 4, 2026.
Michael was born July 25, 1947, in Youngstown, a son to Michael and Mary Stefanic.
He was a graduate of Girard High School, where he played various positions on the football team.
He earned his bachelor’s degree at Youngstown State University, where he was a member of Theta XI fraternity.
He later went on to his lifelong career in real estate. He retired from Berkshire Hathaway after many years of selling homes to the community.
Devoted to his Catholic faith, he was a long-standing member of St. Rose Church. He was known to read his Bible every day.
Michael was a talented dancer who was well known throughout the area for his skill. He never missed an opportunity to share his passion for dancing with others. In his spare time, he also enjoyed skeet shooting, a hobby at which he also excelled.
He was an avid Cleveland sports fan and could be found watching the Cavaliers or Browns on TV any given day.
Michael leaves to cherish his memory his beloved brother, Stephen Stefanic.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents and by his dear twin brother, John Stefanic, who passed away in childhood in 1953.
Visitation for Michael will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Blackstone Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose Church.
He will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, alongside his parents and brother.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Liberty Healthcare Center for the compassion and care that was given to Michael.
