Matthew A. DiLoreto 1945–2026

CANFIELD — Matthew Anthony DiLoreto, 58, loving son, companion, brother, beloved uncle, friend and great-uncle, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026, with his family by his side.

Matt was born Dec. 5, 1967, in Youngstown, to Joseph and Barbara Keefer DiLoreto.

Matt enjoyed the outdoors, riding his bike throughout Mill Creek Park and playing the game he loved — golf — as often as he could. As an avid golfer, he loved nothing more than playing with his nephews and brother. He graduated from Chaney High School in 1986.

Matt worked for V&V Appliances for several years before leaving to become a project manager for several companies, finishing his career with CIO Builders. He enjoyed the customers for whom he worked and truly loved being a part of providing them with a beautiful finished product.

Matt never married; however, he had a long relationship with his girlfriend, Nicole Berkowicz of Canfield, whom he loved and who provided exceptional care for him during his battle, along with her family, Bryce (Stephanie) and Devon (Matt); his couch buddy, Brock; and, as Matt would put it, “his medicine,” and the apple of his eye, Nicole’s granddaughter, Sutton Rose, who affectionately referred to Matt as “Grumpy.”

Matt is survived by his brother, Doug and sister-in-law, Julie, of Struthers, and their children, Joseph, of Howland, and Daniel (Kara), of Struthers; and his best buddy and great-nephew, Lorenzo. Matt also had a special place in his heart for his nephews, Joseph and Daniel DiLoreto. He spent years coaching them on the baseball diamond, along with many other young lives he touched. He took great pride in being called a coach.

Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Barbara DiLoreto.

The family would like to thank Dr. Neil Woody of the Cleveland Clinic for his upfront, honest approach to Matt’s journey. We would also like to thank all the nurses at the Cleveland Clinic in Twinsburg for making his treatments as comfortable as possible and whose approach to Matt’s care did not go unnoticed and is deeply appreciated.

As per Matt’s request, there will be no calling hours; however, there will be a celebration of life from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the Eastwood Mall Event Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to assist with funeral expenses. Any additional funds will be donated, in Matthew’s name, to Angels for Animals.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman.

Family and friends are encouraged to offer prayers for the family and support by visiting the Book of Memories at www.rossifunerals.com.
