Lisa A. Witt 1955-2026
CORTLAND — Lisa Anne Witt, 70, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at her home in Cortland, with her loving husband of 37 years, Chris, by her side.
Lisa was born Dec. 3, 1955, to William and Eleanor Powell and raised on their family farm in Vienna. As a young girl, Lisa enjoyed horseback riding and exploring their forested property. Lisa has always had a fondness for animals, especially her pet dogs and her orange kitty of 18 years.
She graduated from Mathews High School in 1974 and attended Ohio University, where she studied fashion design.
As a young woman, Lisa was a print and runway model for various department stores in Youngstown, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
Lisa and Chris began their romance in 1987 and married at St. Edward Church in Youngstown on Oct. 27, 1989.
Lisa was employed as an administrative assistant for various companies throughout her professional career and had retired from Levy Gardens Assisted Living.
Lisa will be remembered for her beautiful smile, warmth, interest in and kindness to others. She loved the seasons, especially the Christmas season and her spring and summer flower gardens.
In addition to her parents, Lisa was preceded in death by her brother, Jeffrey Powell; sister-in-law, Shelly Powell; her mother-in-law, Barbara Witt Viti; father-in-law, Howard Witt; and brother-in-law, Air Force Lt. Col. Daniel J. Witt.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Chris; sisters, Leslie (Ernie) Cross and Mary Jane (Doug) Moore; sisters-in-law, Julie (Bill) Sofranko, Rebecca (Pat) Lowry, Marie (Mike) Dockry and Lisa Witt (Paul); brothers-in-law, David (Rachel) Witt, Thomas (Marsha) Witt, James (Julie) Witt and Charles (Brenda) Witt; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Lisa’s family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2026, at the McCauley Funeral Home, 230 Broadway Ave., Youngstown.
Private burial services will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Lisa’s name to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Youngstown, 144 W. Wood St., Youngstown, OH 44503.
