Josephine Foltz 1943-2026

YOUNGSTOWN – Josephine Barbato Foltz, 82, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in Boardman, with her family by her side.

Born Oct. 6, 1943, in Youngstown, Josephine was the beloved daughter of the late Christo and Mary Cianciola Barbato.

She graduated from East High School with the Class of 1961.

On Oct. 15, 1994, she married Kenneth Foltz, with whom she shared many happy years until his passing.

Josephine dedicated her life to caring for others. A lifelong caregiver, she was known for her generous heart, compassionate spirit and unwavering devotion to her family. Affectionately known as “JoJo” to those who loved her, she always wore the nickname with a smile. Whether offering a helping hand, providing comfort during difficult times or simply spending quality time with her family, JoJo’s kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

She also enjoyed spending evenings with friends and family at bingo, creating many cherished memories.

Josephine is survived by her loving sisters, Patty Gragorace and Mary Johngrass; many beloved nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friend, Patrick Adams, all of whom will deeply miss her love, guidance and gentle presence.

In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Foltz; sister, Sarah Ross; brothers-in-law, Vincent Ross and Robert Gragorace; and her nephew, Dion Gragorace.

Josephine’s legacy of love, selflessness and compassion will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be remembered for the care she gave so freely, the warmth she brought to those around her and the love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to call her family or friend.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that monetary contributions be made to Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley in Josephine’s memory.

Family and friends may pay their respects 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman, followed by a 1 p.m. memorial service.
