SARASOTA, Fla. -- On Saturday, June 6, 2026, John Roy "Jack" Strawderman went home to be with the Lord and to be reunited with the love of his life, Judy, his wife of 58 years. "Jack" was best known for his calm kindness and gentle trustworthy demeanor towards everyone he met.
Jack was born on Feb. 16, 1938, in Youngstown, to Jesse S. and Rose E. Raupach Strawderman.
He played football and baseball for South High School, and upon graduation apprenticed and became a machinist at Youngstown Sheet and Tube.
For three years, he served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer stationed in Germany.
Jack then went into bank management, obtaining his bachelor's degree in finance from Youngstown State University, where he graduated with honors.
Jack and Judy relocated to Sarasota, Florida, and he retired from Sarasota County Schools.
Jack was active in the community, coaching baseball and football, serving as the treasurer for the Four Square Club, and joining both the American Legion and The Sons of the American Revolution.
He enjoyed bowling, photography, gem mining, traveling, crossword puzzles, coin collecting, sports and most of all, time with his wife and family.
Jack and Judy lovingly raised four children together in Poland, Bob, Wendy, Heidi and Holly.
He is survived by three children, Robert (Kathy) Strawderman, Heidi (Ayman) Saleh and Holly (Bern) Pisaturo; seven grandchildren, Aly Saleh, Maleck Saleh, Jad Saleh (Izzy), Gabrielle (Xavier) Picavet, Michael Anzevino IV, Zachary Pisaturo and Emily Pisaturo; and two great-grandchildren, Oliver Picavet and Eliott Picavet.
Besides his parents and his wife, Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Palmer; his brother, Billy Strawderman; and sisters, Katherine Strawderman, Jessie Tarary, Betty Thompson, Rose Burrows and Nancy Flaugher; and his daughter-in-law, Jerri Strawderman.
