John E. Hoppa Sr. 1942-2026
AUSTINTOWN — John E. Hoppa Sr., 83, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
On Oct. 29, 1966, John married the love of his life, Colleen Stark. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter and countless cherished memories.
John owned and operated his own tree-cutting business before retiring from RMI Titanium.
A proud United States Army veteran, John was a dedicated member of VFW Post 4237 and the American Legion. He took great pride in participating in VFW parades and honoring those who served.
In his free time, John enjoyed riding motorcycles, attending classic car shows and working on just about anything — especially chainsaws. He loved spending time in his yard, but nothing brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by his family.
John leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, kindness and unforgettable memories. He will be deeply missed by his children, John (Annette) Hoppa and Jodi (Dan Felt) Hoppa; Sarah Howley, who lovingly cared for John and became a cherished part of his family, and her grandchildren, Kenz’ley and Little Paul Lee; his grandchildren, Deanna (David Sadinsky) Hoppa, Amanda (Elijah Smallwood) Gustinella and Paul (Janessa Dominic ) Gustinella; his step-grandchildren, Richard Miller Jr., Chelsea (Nick) Habib and Rochelle Carlisle; his great-grandchildren, Raven, Izaiah, Izaac, Ricky III, Alessandra and Annabella; and his sisters, Jean Bedford and Joeyanne Baytos; along with many other loving family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Colleen Hoppa; and his sisters, Theresa McKee and Freida Kloetzly.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Lane Family Funeral Homes-Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown, OH 44515. Funeral services will immediately follow at 6 p.m.
