Janice A. Foster 1945-2026
YOUNGSTOWN — Janice A. Foster, 81, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, June 25, 2026.
Janice was born April 29, 1945, in Youngstown, the daughter of Joseph and Carmel DeMartino Ferranti.
She was a teacher at St. Luke’s School in Boardman and finished her career working for the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She was president of the Lemoyne State Quilters, who produced and provided quilts for use by children with AIDS in Philadelphia’s St. Christopher’s Hospital AIDS pediatric ward in 1991.
In her spare time, Janice enjoyed traveling, quilting and researching her genealogy, and she was a very good artist who loved her dogs.
Her beloved husband of 25 years, William “Gib” Foster, passed away in 2002. She treasured the many love letters he wrote each and every day.
Janice will always be remembered lovingly by her stepchildren, William “Dub” Foster and Kate Ford; two brothers, Bob (Barb) Ferranti and James (Deborah) Ferranti; nieces, Becky and Corine; and nephew, Michael.
Besides her parents and husband, Janice was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Ferranti.
A special thanks to the Addison Assisted Living family on Canfield Road for its special care and compassion, as well as the hospice community for their kindness and comfort.
