Irene D. Smith 1948-2026

Born Nov. 2, 1948, in Youngstown, Irene was the daughter of Andrew and Ethel Bish Smith. A lifelong area resident, she was a proud 1966 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School.

In addition to being a devoted homemaker, Irene worked for many years at Falcon Trucking Company before retiring.

Throughout her life, Irene found joy in the simple pleasures. She loved reading, playing solitaire and, above all, spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her family was the center of her life and the memories they shared will be treasured forever.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Frank (Renee) Waldo Jr., Cindy (Robert Lewis) McBurney and Paul Waldo; her five beloved grandchildren, Frank III (Cadee) Waldo, Nick (Katie) Waldo, Haley (Michael) Vigorito, Addison McBurney and Anna Waldo; her great-grandson, Samuel Vigorito; her cherished dogs, Patches and Mister-Mister; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her beloved companion, Fred Rome; her sisters, Mary Lou (Sparky Sr.) Ashby and Jerri Lodwick; and her nephews, Sparky Ashby Jr. and Andy Ashby.

In keeping with Irene’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services at this time.
